Student Information & Expectations

Welcome to Wild West Ranch Alberta! We are excited to have you join our lesson program. Please review the following information to help ensure a safe, enjoyable, and successful experience for all riders.

Lesson Information

All riding lessons are 90 minutes in length, including horse preparation, tacking up, untacking, and riding time.

Riders are expected to arrive 10–15 minutes before their scheduled lesson time to allow time for check-in, preparing equipment, and getting ready for their lesson.

Lessons begin and end at their scheduled times. Late arrivals may result in reduced riding time.

Proper Riding Attire
For the safety of our riders and horses, proper attire is required for all lessons.

Required:
Riding boots with a defined heel (approximately 1 inch)
Long pants or riding jeans
Approved riding helmet (helmets are available to borrow if needed)

Not Permitted:
Running shoes or flat-soled shoes
Sandals or open-toed footwear
Shorts
Loose clothing that may become caught on equipment

Attendance & Make-Up Lessons
Consistent attendance is important for rider progression.

We understand that life happens and will accommodate one make-up lesson per month when sufficient notice is provided.

Make-up lessons must be scheduled within a reasonable timeframe and are subject to coach and horse availability.

Missed lessons without notice are not eligible for a make-up lesson.

Horse & Barn Safety
Horses must always be treated with kindness, patience, and respect.

Running, yelling, or roughhousing around horses is not permitted.

Riders must follow all coach instructions at all times.

Only authorized riders and staff may enter horse pens, paddocks, or restricted areas.

Riders are expected to help keep the barn and lesson areas clean and tidy.

Weather & Cancellations
Lessons run rain or shine whenever possible.

In cases of severe weather or unsafe conditions, coaches will notify riders if lessons need to be rescheduled.

Parents & Spectators
Family and friends are welcome to watch lessons from designated viewing areas.

For safety reasons, spectators should avoid entering lesson spaces unless instructed by a coach.

Our Goal
