At the core of Wild West Ranch Alberta is a woman whose passion, grit, and vision brought it all to life — meet Trycia Matte, owner and operator of this one-of-a-kind ranch experience in Alberta.

A lifelong horse lover and dedicated rancher, Trycia didn’t just stumble into this lifestyle — she built it from the ground up. Driven by a deep respect for the land, animals, and the western way of life, she founded Wild West Ranch as a place where people could connect with nature, experience authentic ranch culture, and witness the magic of horses up close.

What sets Trycia apart is her hands-on approach. She’s not just the face of the ranch — she’s the engine behind it. From early morning chores to hosting guests and caring for her horses like family, Trycia’s presence is felt in every detail. Her passion isn’t just about horses — it’s about creating a space where others can discover the same sense of peace, adventure, and purpose that she’s found in the western lifestyle.

Her journey hasn’t always been easy, but Trycia’s determination, warmth, and love for what she does have shaped Wild West Ranch into a special place that visitors remember long after they leave.

Meet Marie: Our Bright-Haired, Big-Hearted Summer Camp Star

If you've ever been to a summer camp at Wild West Ranch Alberta, chances are you've already met Marie — and if not, you’ve definitely seen her! With her signature bright purple hair and even brighter personality, Marie is impossible to miss — and absolutely unforgettable.

As our wonderful summer camp host, Marie plays a huge role in making Wild West Ranch a magical place for kids and young riders. She’s got a heart of gold, a fun-loving sense of humour, and a natural gift for connecting with people — especially our littles.

Marie brings energy, kindness, and creativity to everything she does. Whether she’s helping a nervous camper find their confidence in the saddle, telling silly stories around the fire, or leading horse care lessons with a laugh and a smile, she’s always fully present — and fully passionate.

It’s clear that Marie truly loves what she does. Her enthusiasm is contagious, her patience is endless, and her commitment to the ranch’s mission shines through in every lesson, camp, and interaction.

To know Marie is to adore her — and we’re beyond lucky to have her as part of the Wild West Ranch family.

 

Meet Calista: The Magic Behind the Screen (and Sometimes in the Saddle!)

While most of the Wild West Ranch action happens out in the fields and barns, there’s one team member keeping everything on track behind the scenes — meet Calista, the creative force behind our brand new website!

As our website manager and digital go-to, Calista is the reason you’re able to read this blog, book camps, browse updates, and stay connected with everything going on at the ranch. She's constantly updating, tweaking, posting, and making sure all the behind-the-scenes tech runs smoothly — especially when Trish (aka Tryica!) is too busy out with the horses to hit "publish."

But Calista isn’t just our tech wizard — she’s also one of the funniest people on the team. Whether she’s cracking jokes in the office or bringing some much-needed laughter to a busy day, her quick wit and easygoing nature make her a joy to work with.

And while you'll usually find her in the office with a laptop and a mug of something warm, don't be surprised if you catch her out riding her favorite horse, Tristan, when she gets the chance to sneak away.
